5.10 Climbing Festival - Buddha's Birthday

http://hocorp.blog.me/110106000656

There will be a 5.10 climbing festival at the Songam Spots Town in Chuncheon to celebrate Buddha's birthday (10th May). Apparently, despite his bulky frame, he was really into climbing.

All the details I have are on the link above, but it's all in Korean. From a quick scan, it looks like there are lead, speed, bouldering and dyno competitions and you have to apply before the end of April.

The local sports crag (Eui Am Am Jang) and ridge (Chuncle Ridge) are about 2km up the road and have ample space for camping.

I think there's also other X style competitions happening on the same day. BMX, Skate boarding, disco dancing, rollerskating, dominoes... you know, that sort of thing.

If I get any more details, I'll post them.

Andy,

Sounds like a grand time, but a mighty long haul from Busan, although I do love that little city by the lake, even if that lake be damned, and the Dakgalbi which it is famous for. Any chance you'll be gracing Korea's 2nd largest city with your pressence in the near future?

Maybe in my near death state, I can compete for fun! Buddhas Borthday in Chuncheon with my little sister in toe sounds like a good plan!

PNW, I'd be up for an early start on the ridge. Get going at 8am, down before midday, then take in the festivities at the 5.10 bash.

Great! I've been looking for something to do for Big B's birthday. I'm headng down from Seoul, but don't really know where the hell to go when I get to Chuncheon... Any help with that available? Also, if anyone fancies meeting up for some food or anything at the festival I'd really appreciate it!

Just jump in a taxi and say "Songam Sports Town." Shouldn't cost more than 4000 won from the bus terminal.
