Sport Climbing 4th and 5th of Nov

Hello everyone,

My name is Merrick Schaefer and I work for UNICEF. I am coming to Korea this week to work on a project with the national office and would love to go sport climbing (or bouldering, or trad or whatever) with some local folks on the weekend of November 4th and 5th.

I will be in Seoul and have my harness, shoes and draws but am leaving my rope behind (unless I need to bring it as well)

I have been climbing for 12 years and would be happy to climb on almost anything in the 5.6(4) to 5.12-(7b) range.

Please private message or email me if you are interested.

Thanks alot and cool site!

-merrick-

Live from work...

You bet your @$$ you'll be dragging me along . You make it sound like I don't want to climb. Ganhyon will put me back in my place after the sendable climbs last weekend. I might even have my new gear by then!

weather notice

FYI all,
the airport forecasts for this weekend say RAIN saturday and sunday north of Osan/Pyeongtaek. for the southern 2/3rds of korea rain is only predicted for sunday.
also, average temps are supposed to drop by 10 degrees F (5.5C) on sunday all over the country, including potential snow north of sokcho!

Ganhyon 5 Nov

If the weather holds, I will head out to Ganhyon early Sunday with shoes & harness hoping to trade belay services for a chance to climb. I'll bring mountain bike as plan B and I'll definately leave to return before noon in an attempt to beat traffic.

Cheers,

Tom

In case it does rain, are there any steep crags that stay dry near Seoul? or does everything get wet?

i asked around on the weather question

my gym is going to sonunsan... and i know halmei is great when it's raining since you can hang out in the car and then walk to the climb. kind of far from seoul but probably more worth it. the tops at ganhyon all get wet i think even on the steepest stuff. sonunsan/halmei interest count? we can get a carpool going maybe - and by pool, i mean kiddie pool... plus climbingclaw can get all the boxes in my car if we do that

I'll take a ride (so to speak) anywhere as long as I'm climbing.
