Meet and Greet

Hi,
I am also interested. I am keen to climb Oct 28,29,30th (fri-sun). I am coming from melbourne so would need to know what I should bring other than harness and shoes (should I bring rope, draws, gear, tent, etc).

I lead 6B+/6c sport, and 6b trad.

Thanks, Carole

Hey All,

This sounds great, I love to go outdoor climbing. I just arrived in Seoul and will be staying for two months. I brought my harness ATC, I have climbed mostly indoors, toproap and lead so some real rock would be wonderful. I live in Songpa and have time on the weekend for trips and during the evenings to climb in Seoul.

Anyone any suggestions where to climb in Seoul and willing to join?

Hope to meet you soon

Greetings Niek

ps. Also no car but bicycle I have

Carole, I like the idea of Oct 29-30 for a meet and greet. That leaves time to plan. Years ago (I'm going to say 2008, because I went as "President Palin" in an attempt at "scariest costume") we did a Halloween "costume climb" at Ganhyeon, and before that we did a costume climb at Yongseo for Halloween.

There are usually enough ropes and draws; in general, if you have them, bring them (that goes for guitars, too)!

last weekend of October?

Anyone still down to climb at Ganhyeon last weekend of October? It's a bit of a haul for me, but if people are keen to meet up, I can make it late Friday or early Sat.

I would be willing to meet the last weekend of October, early Saturday morning for me as I work too late in the evenings. I have shoes, harness, atc, and a biner, but no rope, draws, or crash pads. Most of my experience is indoor top-roping and bouldering, but I have bouldered outside a couple times.

In general though, I would really like to get into lead sport climbing. If anyone wants to mentor a newbie, I can buy beer and or magkeolli. Or whatever your drink of choice is..

Where would you be coming from?

Ganhyeon is a great place to learn to lead. There are some nice 5.7s and the grades gently progress.

My drink of choice is tequila!

I'm in Gwanak-gu, Seoul. Looks like it's a little far, but I'm willing to mame the trek.

And tequila it is then!

Ah, I see now. It looks like it's under 2 hours by train.

Yeah. . . easy fast train to Wonju. . .maybe an hour. Then a bus to Ganhyeon.
e-mail me if you need more specifics (sonia.jju @ gmail) or KaTalk. . . SKinSK
That goes for anyone who wants to join!
