Climbing partner in Seoul on 21-28 August

Hello,

I will be visiting Seoul on 21-28 August and I'd like to know if there would be anyone who could perhaps join me for some climbing during my stay. It's a work trip and I'll be attending a conference on some days but there will be free time as well.
I'm from Finland and it's my first visit to Korea so it would be great to see what kind of climbing you have there. Any kind of climbing would be good. Roped, bouldering, multi pitches even ice because it looks like that you have that also. I climb comfortably up to french 6b and have been climbing for ten years. I have all necessarily gear so if needed I'll take it with me.

If you are interested in showing me around either just reply here on this forum or send me email to teppo.saarenpaa(at)turkuamk.fi

Thanks,
Teppo Saarenpää

Hi Teppo, Welcome to KOTR and to Korea (for when you get here).
There is plenty of climbing available in Seoul. Bouldering, gyms, walls, granite trad routes and sport too. Alas the indoor ice wall (summer here now so no real ice) is closed indefinitely I think the company went bankrupt or something...
BUT there will be a fair few of us available to climb that week I think. I'll be getting back into Korea/ Seoul late 21st....so maybe about the 22-23rd, or the weekdays after. Climbing the great granite slabs and cracks at Insubong Peak in Northern Seoul is best done on weekdays - weekends are so so busy! Other areas though are fine on weekends. Getting about is quite easy too as the Seoul subway is very easy to use and pretty fast.
Keep posting here as your trip gets closer and I'm sure you'll be able to join us all for some climbing.

I'm sure we can work something out. I climb every weekend, around seoul or somewhere a short train ride away.

Hi,

It's great to know that there is so much climbing to do and thank you for answering my post so quickly. I can't wait to get there. I will post here more detailed information about my timetable there once I know more which is most likely in a week or so.

Teppo

Hello,

My schedule for upcoming trip to Seoul has been verified so now I know when I must work and when I get off to hopefully do some climbing.

I'll be arriving to Seoul on Saturday 22nd at 8.20 on the morning which means that I would be able to go climbing later that day and on Sunday. I'm also available on tuesday 25th and thursday 27th most likely all day.

If any of you locals are going climbing on those days I would be glad to join you.

See you soon,
Teppo
