Seoraksan June 13-15

Going for another trip to the 'Rak this weekend. Last time it was the Ulsanbawi Easy Trail (did it in two trips); this time I want to try something a bit more climbing-intensive (but not more than 5.7 I think).

The routine is to get to Sokcho by bus late at night, crash at the jjimjilbang, and get an early start climbing Saturday, perhaps get benighted on the mountain (thank goodness we were prepared with bivies : ) and climb some more on Sunday.

Let me know if you want to join; gotta get permit apps in by Tuesday.

Great Timing

hey Joe,

I know we keep missing each other but I'm good to go for Seoraksan this coming weekend. And I hope we can shell out a little more for a decent place to sleep. I like Jimjilbangs too but they can get a little rowdy when you're trying to get some shut-eye.

I'll PM you for details.

Cheers,
Paula

Joe,

sent you my info.
i'll be heading out earlier so i can meet you all there. and about the sleeping arrangements...don't know the area but it looks like the sokcho express terminal is near the coast and there's a bunch of minbaks near there. i can make reservations, settle in first, we could also leave our stuff there while we climb and go back Saturday night.

whaddya think?

Paula, sent you pm. I'd prolly want to spend Sat. night on the rock, saving about 4 hours on approach and bus travel back and forth to Sokcho . . .

Yeah. Three hours of sleep and then bivvying it the next day after a long day of schlepping your gear up the side of a mountain. Awesome!

Actually, I'm gonna need real sleep at least the first night. On this first trip I would prefer to make it about the climbing experience not about how much you can endure when sleep deprived. I do that during the week.

I reserved a room for Friday night near the mountain and will be there in the evening so anyone who would like to join me just let me know. I can meet you the rest of you at the gate in the morning.

I'll be checking the site periodically all day for updates.
