Hera Sports Climbing
Submitted on December 11th, 2013 by RobbForce6 Type: Gyms    Province: Gyeonggi-Do    City: Seoul
photo This bouldering gym opened about 6 months ago but still looks brand new. They obviously go to great lengths to keep this place clean and tidy. It seems to be very welcoming and pleasant and there are always a few high level climbers hanging around ready to give you a challenge.

The owner is really passionate about climbing and speaks good english (he regularly goes climbing on the mountains on the weekends and will invite anyone who's eager to join) and the manager also speaks English well so you won't have to worry about making yourself un... [Read More]

photo Insubong is a magnificent granite peak that rests in the heart of Seoul. It boasts fifty- eight routes up to date. Routes are primarily slab and cracks with a few face and chimney climbs in between. Climbs range from one to eight pitches. The highest graded route is My Way(5.12b).... [Read More]

Insubong (Campsite Boulders)
Submitted on January 29th, 2006 by fitzelq Type: Bouldering    Province: Gyeonggi-Do    City: Seoul
photo The rock here consists of a worn granite, not smoothed by glaciation, but sharp with crystals. Some boulders sport bomber edges, some boulders beg serious cleaning time in order to remove the crumbly dirt and crust encasing some of the holds. But everything you want is here, from overhung roofs, highball scare-fests, dynos, V11 testpieces, excellent slabs, fun and interesting warm-ups and plenty of exploring and adventure -- all placed just beneath Insu Peak, and scattered around a quant Buddhist temple. It can be a bit noisy and you will de... [Read More]

K2 Gym
Submitted on September 4th, 2009 by B-Team Type: Gyms    Province: Gyeonggi-Do    City: Seoul
photo The biggest gym yet in Korea. This place is for beginner and advanced climbers alike. The layout and design is on par with the average gym in America. Great facilities. 12 meter tall lead wall (290 square meters) and 4 meter tall bouldering area (310 square meters). Routes and problems are marked if you like that kind of system. If you're interested there's also an outdoor shop (1st fl), screen golf (4&5 fl) and fitness club (6&7 fl).

Kang Buk Gu

photo First of all. THere are no 5.X. This is a bouldering area. I said traditional because that was the closest fit to bouldering.. because people climbed boulders before ropes were around.

There are all kinds: slabs, heel hooking traverses, and other typical routes.

The granite is mainly smooth so some not too many gubs.

There is rock everywhere. Just gotta explore. Just walk in any direction and you'll find it.

So I climbed some v1s and some v0s but the pictures are stuff I want to clean and try with some people.

The slight overha... [Read More]

photo Short (8-12m) granite face climbs, slabs, and bolted cracks with small roofs, bulges! All 15 routes can be toproped with an easy scramble around left. Anchors are easily accessible from the top, though a few are further back, and the wires/rusted hooks on top are suspect. Bring a few long slings for toproping; scramble up to retrieve them!... photo Namhansan sports aprox. 15 routes, ranging from 5.8-5.13. The rock is very interesting. I'm not quite sure what it is, but "crappy granite" may be the best description. Your hands will understand what I mean after you have climbed here! All of the climbs are about 10 meters long. About 2/3 of the climbs are slabby, and the others are somewhat overhung and very strenuous. Due to the "uniqueness" of the rock, onsighting the more difficult routes is not easy (read: I got schooled)!

The location of this crag is EXTREMELY scenic. You don't... [Read More]
